Welcome to DTP: Berkeley, CA
PLEASE NOTE: THIS IS A VIRTUAL MEETING
Welcome to the Divorce Transition Professionals (DTP)
DTP was founded in 2017. Our primary Mission Statement that still holds true today is:
Making Divorce Just a Little Bit Easier™
We believe that this can be accomplished by bringing together amazing professionals all of whom have expertise in the divorce landscape and all of whom understand what it means to collaborate.
At each chapter meeting we bring you a top-notch speaker or program, providing on-going education, and an opportunity to network and collaborate with some of the best divorce professionals in your community. Our meetings are typically an hour. We respect that you are a busy professional and are sure to provide a compelling, productive meeting, the ultimate results of which will meet our goal of supporting folks as they go through divorce and in growing your business, concurrently.
This event is completely free to all FIRST-TIME attendees. It is an opportunity to learn more about the Divorce Transition Professionals. If you are a professional with divorce expertise, please check us out.
There is nothing like DTP!
This Month's Program

She is introducing the topic through her own experience and perspective, beginning with her introduction and backstory and explaining the terminology around high-conflict divorce, including what it means and what it does not mean. She discusses concepts such as narcissism, predatory parents, protective parents, disordered personalities, gaslighting, and post-separation abuse. She explains that these situations would be much easier to identify if they came with a warning that says, “You may not be seeing the whole picture,” but they can be difficult to recognize because some individuals are skilled at presenting themselves in a convincing way. She also references Dr. Ramani’s description of the “pathologically insecure preying on the conventionally insecure.” She explains how couples counseling, mediation, and collaborative divorce can create opportunities for people to “put on a show.” When these cases come to her, she may notice that the protective parent is confused, overwhelmed, afraid, speaking rapidly, bringing texts and emails, receiving 20–40 texts per day, ruminating, rehearsing conversations, recording interactions, giving long explanations, and being quick to acknowledge their own part. In contrast, the predatory parent may appear calm, use victim-focused language, make broad characterizations rather than specific examples, become irritated when asked for details, quickly blame others, and suddenly become involved in the children’s activities after previously being uninterested. When she observes couples before separation, she looks for power imbalances, who answers the questions, whether one person quickly acquiesces or concedes, and how money is managed. When she feels as though “crazy” has walked into the room, she considers the possibility of a disordered personality and recognizes that the situation may leave her feeling confused or unsettled. She also focuses on predictable abusive behaviors and why understanding them matters.
