This Month's Program

Exploring Stepfamily Dynamics

Few of us aspire to become stepparents;
it’s one of the most confounding roles we enter with our eyes wide shut.
Most of our conceptions of stepfamily life were shaped by Disney movies
(think: wicked stepmother) or from outdated and highly-sanitized television shows
such as the Brady Bunch.

In an effort to dispel the myths of stepfamily life that can be harmful,
veteran stepmother and counselor Susan Haworth will explain how
stepfamilies differ from first families and what can be done to
preserve second family relationships. By understanding stepfamily dynamics,
we can better serve our clients, as well as help friends and loved ones
in their efforts to forge family harmony.

From a very young age, I watched my parents run a successful business in Rockford, IL. I not only helped out from time to time, but I also learned what a strong work ethic, hard work, and perseverance look like.

The lessons I learned from my parents paid off in adulthood, when I was a single parent, working full time and attending Judson College where I graduated cum laude with my Bachelor of Arts degree. I joined Edward Jones in 2017 after 20 years in other areas of the financial services industry.

I believe my personal experience of single parenting, combining a blended household and estate planning as well as my professional experience partnering with families and individuals through divorce situations helps me to continue to guide friends and clients through multiple transitional situations.

It is my passion to help individuals, like you, achieve your financial goals through all of life's stages. I want your hard-earned money to work for you, so that you can reach your goals and spend quality time doing the things you love with those you hold most dear.

Those that I hold most dear are my husband, Mark, and our two adult daughters. We enjoy spending quality time together, playing games, listening to live music and traveling. I firmly believe in giving back to the community whenever possible as well. I am an active volunteer with Make A Wish, Loves Park Rotary, Harlem Community Center, Parks Chamber, St Ambrogio Society and Rock River Valley YMCA Camp Winnebago.

My calling is in being of service to others. Whether you're saving for a child's college tuition, retirement, vacation home or any other financial need, I will do all that I can to help you achieve those goals.

Please contact me to discuss your situation and learn more about how we can partner together on your goals and what's most important to you.
